What is Microsoft Windows?
This is a movable resizable area of the screen where
information are displayed .
It is an operating system software, the operating
system(OS) uses windows to operate, therefore we call it “windows operating system.

STARTING YOUR COMPUTER
Before powering
your computer make sure all the necessary cable are properly connected. Make
sure the that floppy disk drive contains no diskette. The reason for this is as
soon as your computer is put on, the system will start checking all the
necessary cables, to make sure that all are ready for use.
BOOTING
It is the
process by which the computer checks all computers, to ensure all are able to
do work at once.

this means starting the computer by punching the power button of your system and
the power button of your monitor.
v WARM BOOKING:
it is the process of reloading the computer without punching the power button
and waiting for the computer to check itself and the devices.

OF COLD BOOTING

Press the power button on your system unit and power button of your monitor.

Computer goes through the process of booting

After booting, the computer display the
windows desktop with mouse pointer

PROCEDURE FOR WARM BOOTING/SHUTTING DOWN

Click on start button
·
Select shut down/turn off computer
·
A dialogue box will appear bearing stand
by,

Shut down/ turn off and restart.
HOW
TO CHANGE THE DESKTOP BACKGROUND

Right click on the empty area on desktop
environment.
·
Click properties or personalise ,
on the fly out that
will appear
select desktop tab
on the background list view.

Select the desired wallpaper,
·
Click apply and ok
HOW TO SELECT A SCREEN SAVER
·
Right click on empty area on the
desktop window, click properties, select screen saver tab
·
Select desired screensaver from the list
box,
click setting,
specify the number of minutes to wait before it will be
activated and click ok.
NOTE:
A
screen saver will be activated if no screen is touch before the specified
minutes. To return to your work simply click the mouse to return to your
keyboard.
